Track Protection Officer

About the role

The Track Protection Officer joins Wabtec’s Safe Working team to support rail technology construction, commissioning and maintenance across the Pilbara rail network. Working FIFO on a 2‑weeks on/2‑weeks off roster, you will ensure safe access to the rail corridor and compliance with client standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate safe access for construction, commissioning and maintenance activities on the rail corridor.
• Monitor adherence to rail safety standards, network rules and operational procedures.
• Liaise with construction managers, supervisors, testing teams and client representatives to support project delivery.
• Identify and report safety hazards, risks and incidents in line with company and client procedures.
• Promote a safety‑first culture and participate in site safety meetings and briefings.

Required profile

• Current TOA qualification on the BHP Rail Network with at least 2 years experience.
• Current BHP rail competency (or able to be revalidated) and Category 1 Rail Medical.
• Australian driver’s licence and strong understanding of BHP Rail Network rules.
• Excellent communication, leadership and commitment to safety.
