Second Officer

About the role

Join Coral Expeditions, a pioneering Australian cruise line, as a Second Officer. You will support vessel operations on domestic and international voyages, ensuring safe navigation and guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Stand a bridge watch at sea or at anchor.
• Prepare passage plans for each voyage.
• Assist the Master with mud maps and control sheet completion.
• Conduct radio checks and verify bridge equipment compliance.
• Deliver crew inductions and act as OH&S representative, running monthly meetings.
• Maintain safety and firefighting equipment in line with survey requirements.
• Coordinate daily program activities with the Expedition Leader and Purser.
• Assist with guest baggage handling and turnaround duties.

Required profile

• Hold a Deck Watchkeeper (Unlimited) or Chief Mate < 3000 certificate.
• Certificate of Safety Training (CoST) endorsed by AMSA.
• Proficiency in Survival Craft, Crowd Control & Crisis Management.
• International AMSA Medical certification.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification.
• Passenger ship experience is desirable.
