Technician - Underground Blasting Equipment

About the role

Orica is looking for a Technician - Underground Blasting Equipment (HcD Technician) to join its Mining Services team in Perth, WA. You will support underground blasting machinery and customer-operated systems through maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment commissioning and technical support across Western Australia and South Australia. The role suits mechanically or electrically minded people, and training and support are provided for those new to underground blasting operations. It runs on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, with travel to Orica locations across Western Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair underground blasting equipment, including Hypercharge Drive Units (HcD)
• Find and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and system faults
• Provide technical support and advice to customers on-site and by phone
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and help customers minimise downtime
• Carry out equipment inspections, routine servicing and maintenance audits
• Assist with installing, testing and commissioning new equipment
• Build customer relationships through reliable service and support
• Keep accurate service records and work safely according to site, customer and Orica requirements

Required profile

• Strong hands-on experience maintaining mobile or fixed plant equipment, and/or trade qualification as a light vehicle auto electrician or mechanic
• Ability to diagnose issues and solve problems independently
• Confidence working on-site and managing your own workload
• Clear communication skills when supporting customers or teams
• Safety-first mindset and understanding of safe work practices
