Technical Director Transport Planning

About the role

As Technical Director Transport Planning you will lead the planning, design and delivery of Queensland’s most significant transport and urban mobility projects. The role blends technical excellence, client leadership and business growth to strengthen our Urban Mobility capability across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex transport planning and infrastructure projects, providing technical leadership and quality advisory services.
• Manage client relationships, stakeholder engagement and business development, including proposal preparation and pursuit of new opportunities.
• Mentor and develop transport professionals, building high‑performing multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee preparation of transport strategies, business cases, feasibility studies, corridor planning studies and concept designs.
• Act as trusted advisor to government agencies, public transport operators and private sector clients, delivering specialist advice on public transport planning, service integration and future mobility.
• Manage project performance, including programme, risk, commercial and quality outcomes.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, Urban Planning or related discipline.
• Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) and/or eligibility for relevant professional accreditation; chartered status or progress towards chartership is highly regarded.
• Extensive experience in transport planning, urban mobility or integrated transport infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project budgets, risk and quality.
• Collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring teams.
