Technical Director – Structural Engineering Team Lead

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director to lead its Structural Engineering team in Sydney. This senior leadership position balances team management with hands‑on delivery of landmark building projects across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex structural and multidisciplinary projects, including venues, transport hubs, hospitals, defence facilities and data centres.
• Provide technical direction, design reviews and technical assurance to ensure quality and coordinated outcomes.
• Act as Project Director on major assignments, managing client relationships from concept through delivery.
• Mentor and develop senior and emerging engineers, building future technical leaders.
• Contribute to proposals, pursuits and work‑winning to grow AECOM’s structural presence in ANZ.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering with 20+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably in consultancy.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent registration.
• Extensive experience delivering complex projects and strong knowledge of Australian codes and standards.
• Proven technical leadership, design review and multi‑disciplinary team management.
• Strong client‑facing and communication skills with a track record of winning work.
