Taxation Accountant

About the role

The Taxation Accountant will support the Head of Group Tax in completing and finalising key tax obligations for the Kmart Group across Australia and New Zealand. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic retail environment with a strong focus on tax compliance and research.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge tax returns and related compliance documentation for Australian and New Zealand operations.
• Conduct tax research and produce position papers to support business decisions.
• Liaise with tax authorities and internal stakeholders to resolve tax issues.
• Maintain tax data in financial systems such as SAP or Oracle and tax software like OneSource.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in a large corporate, Big‑4, or ASX‑listed environment.
• Australian recognised tertiary qualification in Accounting, Law, Business or equivalent, with a postgraduate qualification (ICAA, CPA, Master of Taxation).
• Strong research, analytical and organisational skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
