Systems Engineer – Communications & Network Solutions

About the role

KBR is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the sustainment, performance and evolution of complex voice and data communication systems for Defence. The role involves technical risk management, safety assurance and lifecycle support across advanced technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform critical engineering activities and provide advice on systems engineering under limited direction.
• Research, develop and deliver technical reports, briefs and documentation for review and approval.
• Analyse design packages, assess compliance with legislative and policy frameworks and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure safety aspects of Defence materiel are incorporated into engineering tasks.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Systems Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, Communications, Mechatronics or related discipline.
• At least 3 years experience delivering engineering outcomes in a Defence environment.
• Active NV1 Defence Security Clearance (or higher).

Required skills

• Network/communication engineering architecture.
• Defence Safety Engineering practices, LMSM compliance, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Safety Case development.
• Support of electronic systems and OEM software solutions.
• Knowledge of electronics, networking technologies and vendor‑specific software platforms.
• Understanding of Capability Life Cycle, Configuration Management and ASDEFCON deliverables.
• Interpretation of wiring diagrams, technical drawings and communications system interfaces.
