Surgery Veterinary Nurse - ARH Brisbane

About the role

The Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) in Brisbane, one of the most respected emergency and specialist veterinary hospitals, is seeking an experienced and passionate Surgery Nurse to join its surgical team. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency and critical care to referring veterinarians and the public. The position is available either part-time or full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Surgery patient treatment and care, including patient recovery and monitoring
• IV catheter placement and fluid therapy
• Taking blood and using in-house laboratory equipment
• Cleaning and autoclaving of surgical instruments and specialised equipment
• Specialist surgical and theatre nursing
• Anaesthesia and radiology, including CT and MRI imaging

Required profile

• Completed a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing or a Vet Tech degree
• At least 3 years of nursing experience in a busy GP clinic; referral hospital experience is ideal
• Passion for surgery, enthusiasm and honesty, and high standards of attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, as part of a team and independently
• Time management and organisational skills

Required skills

• Knowledge of Rx works / Smart flow is highly regarded but not essential
• Ongoing training is provided, with financial support for further education
