Supervisor - Pipe Testing (Piping Craft)

About the role

Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure, a greenfield mine project in Cloncurry, Queensland. The Craft Supervisor for Pipe/Pipe Testing supervises and directs operations within the piping discipline, ensuring construction operations and contractor performance comply with specifications and stay within schedule and budget. This is a FIFO role on a 2:1 roster, working night and day shifts as business needs arise.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the project ES&H program and quality control program.
• Supervise, coordinate and direct craft activities for the piping discipline.
• Coordinate craft safety training and enforce safe work practices with the ES&H staff.
• Plan craft manpower and interface with Industrial Relations on recruitment, hiring and skills training.
• Oversee the needs of pipe testing crews for personnel, subcontractor support, construction services, equipment, tools and consumables, and optimise their use.
• Work with other lead discipline superintendents and supervisors to meet project requirements and maintain good housekeeping.

Required profile

• 8-10 years' experience in a similar role in the heavy industrial field.
• Minimum 5 years of pneumatic/hydrostatic testing experience at a supervisory level.
• Strong supervision experience, including the ability to lead and manage change (desirable).
• Experience with flange management, pre-commissioning, oil flushing, air blowing, pigging and drying is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of construction operations at the jobsite.
• Effective communication skills.
• Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets and databases under BSAP standards.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME PCC-2, AS 2885, AS 2033 and AS 2419 pressure testing requirements.
• Good mechanical understanding of pressurisation pumps and equipment, and a strong focus on safety and industry standards.
