Substation Electrician – High Voltage Projects

About the role

ACCIONA, through the ACEREZ joint venture, is seeking experienced Substation Electricians to join the Central‑West Orana Renewable Energy Zone project. You will work on the construction of new 330kV and 500kV high‑voltage substations that will support Australia’s next‑generation renewable transmission network.

Key responsibilities

• Install and terminate high‑voltage and low‑voltage power and control cabling, including transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, CTs, VTs and surge arresters.
• Connect primary plant and secondary systems such as protection panels, marshalling kiosks, control wiring and communications equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules and single‑line diagrams.
• Perform cable glanding, termination, testing and pre‑commissioning activities in line with project specifications.
• Assist commissioning engineers with electrical testing, fault finding and final commissioning.

Required profile

• Current NSW Electrical Licence and Construction White Card.
• Previous experience on high‑voltage substations, switchyards or renewable energy transmission projects.
• Current LVR/CPR certification, High Risk Work Licence – EWP (over 11 m) and recent working‑at‑heights qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to work on a 14 days on / 7 days off roster.

Required skills

• Installation and termination of high‑voltage cabling and substation equipment.
• Electrical testing, fault diagnosis and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
• Interpretation of technical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of Australian electrical standards and safety legislation.
