Staff Software Engineer - Mobile

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer – Mobile you will provide senior technical leadership for Android development within the Money Movement team, shaping payment experiences in the CommBank app. You will influence architecture, mentor engineers and partner with product, design, security and backend teams to deliver secure and reliable customer journeys.

Key responsibilities

• Set and champion the strategic technical direction for Android, including architecture, platform evolution, framework upgrades and migration pathways.
• Own full‑cycle delivery from ideation and design through build, testing, release and production support.
• Modernise payment experiences and evolve legacy mobile components toward reusable, scalable solutions.
• Champion engineering practices such as automated testing, CI/CD, performance, security and observability.

Required profile

• Experienced Android engineer with deep expertise in Kotlin, Android SDK and Jetpack Compose.
• Proven ability to influence architecture, lead technical decisions and mentor other engineers.
• Collaborative mindset, comfortable working with product, design, security and backend teams.

Required skills

• Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose
• Mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, modular design)
• Dependency injection, OOP design, SOLID principles, software design patterns
• Integration of REST or GraphQL APIs and experience with cloud services such as AWS
