Special Education Teacher (Years 7‑12) – Ongoing

About the role

John Pirie Secondary School is seeking a compassionate Special Education teacher to support students with disabilities and diverse learning needs from Years 7 to 12. The role begins in Term 1, 2027 and offers the chance to make a lasting impact through personalised learning and wellbeing support.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver inclusive curricula for special education classes.
• Collaborate with families, allied professionals and school support staff to develop individual learning plans.
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to promote independence and confidence.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to school-wide inclusion initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant teaching qualification and registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.
• Demonstrated ability to create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with students, families and colleagues.

Required skills

• Proficiency in developing and implementing individualised education plans.
• Experience using One Plans or similar goal‑setting frameworks.
