About the role
Challenger Limited is undertaking a major technology uplift across its investment management platform. The Solution Architect will join a small, high‑visibility architecture team to design end‑to‑end solutions for multiple high‑priority initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Design and produce High Level Solution Architectures (HLSAs) and review low‑level designs across several programmes.
- Make and document key technology decisions that unblock delivery teams and reduce downstream rework.
- Partner with product owners, engineers and delivery teams to ensure solutions are practical, scalable and aligned to business outcomes.
- Represent Challenger in technical discussions with external partners and manage vendor relationships.
- Identify and manage technical debt and inter‑dependency risks across overlapping workstreams.
- Ensure solutions meet governance, cybersecurity, privacy and data standards and participate in the Architecture Review Board.
Required profile
- Experience in financial services or other regulated industries (e.g., medical, defence).
- Proven delivery of solution architecture for investment management platforms, including portfolio management, trading, custody and investment accounting.
- Hands‑on architecture experience across complex enterprise environments and multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills with the ability to translate technical complexity for senior leaders.
- Sound commercial and architectural judgement, comfortable weighing trade‑offs.
Required skills
- Investment data architecture and integration expertise.
- End‑to‑end solution architecture covering business, application, information, integration, infrastructure and non‑functional aspects.
- Experience with SDLC processes and managing external technology partners.
- TOGAF certification or equivalent (nice to have).
