Software Engineer – Video Production Tools

About the role

Bring your engineering skills to the team shaping the future of video production at Blackmagic Design. As a Software Engineer you will help build the next generation of video production and post‑production tools used by filmmakers and broadcasters worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high‑quality software applications.
• Write clean, efficient, well‑documented code, including in C++ where relevant.
• Collaborate with talented engineers across disciplines to deliver innovative solutions.
• Take projects end‑to‑end, from requirements through to deployment.
• Solve complex technical challenges and debug tricky issues.
• Stay ahead of the curve with the latest tools, tech, and best practices.
• Help shape and continuously improve our engineering practices and products.

Required profile

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong programming skills, ideally including C++ (or similar languages).
• Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, and design principles.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and a collaborative approach.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, agile environment.
• Willingness to pick up new languages, tools, and parts of the codebase as needed.
