Software Engineer – Networks Automation

About the role

Optus is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Networks Automation and AI Development team. You will design, develop, and maintain automation software that supports the Networks Division, working closely with a cross‑functional engineering team and the Lead Software Developer.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and maintain high‑quality software products for network automation.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and compliance with engineering standards.
• Develop components from low‑level design specifications, focusing on performance and architectural alignment.
• Produce clear technical documentation for operational teams and engineering workflows.
• Provide Tier 3 technical support, including incident investigation, software upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance.
• Monitor product KPIs and ensure compliance with cybersecurity and governance requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to promote reusable tools, automation capabilities, and feature adoption.
• Maintain platform documentation, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, or automation.
• Solid understanding of software security and compliance fundamentals.
• Experience working in agile, cross‑functional environments.
• Previous exposure to telecommunications networks or network automation is desirable.
