Site Representative – Dams (2‑year contract)

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Site Representative to lead the design partner side of a significant dam improvement project in the Toowoomba region of Queensland. This is a two‑year fixed‑term position based on‑site, supporting the construction of an embankment dam crest raise, free‑flow ogee spillway, chute, basin widening and associated infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Review completed works to ensure compliance with design intent and technical specifications.
• Respond to contractor design queries, coordinating changes or site adaptations with both site and head‑office teams.
• Collaborate closely with the contractor to guarantee accurate implementation of design on site.
• Assist the contractor in resolving construction methods where design considerations are critical.
• Supervise a team of at least three construction‑phase supervision staff covering structural, geotechnical and geological aspects.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in embankment dam design, construction or related civil engineering fields.
• Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Dam or Structural Engineering.
• Current RPEQ registration and proven on‑site experience.
