Site Manager – Tier 2 Contractor (Remedial/Refurbishment)

About the role

Our client, a market‑leading Tier 2 contractor with a strong presence in Defence, industrial, marine and commercial sectors, is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead remedial and refurbishment projects in Newcastle, NSW. You will oversee projects ranging up to $5 million, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct onsite HSE and quality inductions for all staff and subcontractors.
• Maintain daily site diaries and manage project documentation.
• Identify, review and resolve key project issues.
• Liaise with statutory bodies to ensure all notifications and permits are in place.
• Set up and maintain site compound, amenities and inspection schedules.
• Assist the Project Manager with scope preparation and contract interpretation.
• Produce and manage defect lists for subcontractors prior to handover.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience supervising construction sites, including planning, programming and managing onsite staff/subcontractors.
• Trade or building‑related qualification.
• Construction Safety Induction (White) card and Senior First Aid Certificate.
• Australian citizenship preferred for Defence projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Sound knowledge of building‑site legislation, regulations and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Desirable: Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety.
