Assistant Building Surveyor – Melbourne (Relocation to Adelaide)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Building Surveyor to join our Melbourne office, supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across South Australia. The role may involve relocation to Adelaide with assistance provided. You will work on high‑profile developments such as defence facilities, healthcare, education and residential apartments, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Assess project documentation and advise clients on compliance with the Building Act, Regulations and the Building Code of Australia.
• Recommend modifications or performance solutions when compliance is not achievable and explore alternative resolutions.
• Prepare technical reports that outline compliance requirements and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and job files, meeting invoicing targets and reporting requirements.
• Liaise with authorities and councils, handling requests for information promptly and professionally.
• Support the Business Unit team with day‑to‑day project management and assessments.
• Contribute to QHSE management systems, including quality control, safety and auditing procedures.

Required profile

• Professional communication skills with clients, colleagues and consultants.
• Relevant university degree (local or internationally recognised) or equivalent experience.
• Previous certification experience in a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to check documentation accurately and on time.
• Team player with initiative to improve processes and procedures.
• Commitment to maintaining CPD requirements in line with state and national accreditation bodies.
