Director, Data Centre Architecture

About the role

We are seeking a Director of Data Centre Architecture to lead the design and delivery of mission‑critical data centre projects across Australia. The role will be based in one of our major cities (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Canberra) and will combine leadership, client engagement and large‑scale project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide project leadership and technical oversight on a portfolio of data centre projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams through complex architectural commissions.
• Drive excellence in design quality, innovation and client satisfaction across major initiatives.
• Partner with sector leads to win new pursuits, deepen client relationships and position AECOM as the partner of choice for large‑scale technical projects.
• Champion sustainable and innovative design standards, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and mentor staff to raise studio capability.
• Manage resource allocation, budgets and risk, contributing to the strategic growth and market positioning of our architecture offering.

Required profile

• Registered Architect with at least 15 years of experience and current professional registration.
• Extensive experience in the data centre sector with strong technical knowledge of data centre design considerations.
• Proven leadership ability to motivate, develop and grow high‑performing teams.
• Excellent organisational skills to manage complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Strategic mindset to shape and strengthen AECOM’s architectural offering.
