Senior Traffic Engineer

About the role

WGA is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join its Traffic and Waste team. The position can be based in Melbourne, Geelong or Hobart and will involve delivering a variety of transport‑related projects, from renewable energy sites to residential and industrial developments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage traffic engineering and transport planning projects, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations.
• Prepare and review Traffic Impact Assessments, transport assessments and planning reports in line with Planning Schemes and Australian Standards.
• Provide high‑quality technical advice to clients and stakeholders and maintain strong client relationships.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to business development and team growth.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Transport/Traffic Engineering, Transport Planning or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in traffic engineering or transport planning, with a proven record of delivering complex projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage deliverables and communicate effectively with clients.
• Experience in mentoring junior staff and supporting business development initiatives.
