Senior Trade and Investment Officer

About the role

Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) is the Queensland Government's global business agency, and this Senior Trade and Investment Officer sits in the Advisory Services and Regions, Queensland Operations, Regional Network team. The team promotes Queensland's regional resources and helps local businesses develop and extend exports and increase investment-ready projects. The role is based in Mackay.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical export advice to businesses and facilitate regional visit programs for delegations and stakeholders.
• Build relationships with stakeholders across sectors and agencies, and co-develop industry and market development opportunities.
• Represent TIQ on inter-departmental, national and industry committees and at government and business forums.
• Coordinate and manage projects with investment clients and partner with other TIQ business units to profile Queensland globally.
• Support regional network initiatives, grants programs and events, including planning, monitoring and facilitation.
• Research and analyse regional export opportunities and update opportunity information in TIQ's CRM, reporting outcomes to management.
• Contribute to policy papers, briefs and reports on investment and export opportunities.
• Assist in State and Australian Government trade and investment programs and tailor messages for the regional audience.
• Work with the Manager on regional outcomes, yearly planning, budgeting and forecasting.
• Provide business support services to the Director, Regional Network and team, including reports, travel arrangements, financial reconciliation and administrative duties, and backfill other regions when needed.

Required profile

• Experience in a trade and investment role, with the ability to identify investment and export opportunities for Queensland.
• Demonstrated ability to implement projects and provide quality business support services.
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across cultures, including private and public sector organisations, clients, client groups, Ministers, the TIQ Board and senior management.
• Strong analytical skills and business acumen to manage complex problems.
