Senior Manager - Commercial Development & Strategy

About the role

North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation is seeking an experienced commercial leader to lead its Commercial Development & Strategy function. Reporting to the General Manager Commercial & Corporate Affairs, the role combines major customer agreements, corporate strategy, government engagement and executive influence. It suits someone already at a senior level or an experienced second-in-command ready for a broader remit. The role may involve time across the corporation's regional operations, with a preference for Mackay and consideration of Brisbane.

Key responsibilities

• Shape corporate strategy and major commercial decisions, and lead complex agreements, development opportunities and stakeholder relationships.
• Manage major customers, high-value contracts and service agreements, and longer-term commercial development.
• Work with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board on decisions affecting the organisation's commercial position.
• Own significant commercial relationships, negotiations, renewals, variations and pricing decisions.
• Lead development opportunities from concept and market sounding through to business case, negotiation and agreement.
• Guide corporate strategy and turn market, policy and supply-chain developments into commercial decisions.
• Engage directly with customers, service providers, industry partners and State and Federal government stakeholders.
• Lead trade forecasting, pricing analysis, commercial modelling and market intelligence.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team while building its capability.

Required profile

• A relevant tertiary qualification.
• Around 10 years' experience in senior commercial, strategy or commercial development roles.
• Career built in heavy industry, infrastructure or another commercially complex sector.
• Strong commercial and financial judgement, including forecasting, pricing and commercial modelling.
• Visible, adaptable and willing to engage directly rather than work behind the scenes.
