Senior Town Planner

About the role

A specialist town planning consultancy, recruited by Aspect Personnel, is looking for a Senior or Associate level Town Planner to join its growing team. The consultancy advises property developers and landowners on residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use projects across metropolitan Melbourne, including complex, large-scale developments and state-significance projects. The successful candidate will work independently and alongside the directors to deliver planning services and manage significant projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide planning and development advice to clients, understanding their objectives and offering tailored planning solutions.
• Lead the preparation, strategy and management of planning applications and scheme amendments.
• Engage with councils, government agencies and community stakeholders to negotiate outcomes and navigate approvals.
• Contribute to feasibility studies, due diligence and front-end project management to maximise commercial returns.
• Support junior team members and help grow the business.

Required profile

• Strong background in urban planning (public or private sector) and a relevant university degree.
• 5 years of experience in urban planning, preferably in Victoria.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Commercially focused, detail-oriented and committed to high-quality outcomes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and creativity in developing innovative solutions.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative team and aspire to become a future leader who mentors others.
