Senior Signalling Design Engineer

About the role

Egis is seeking a technically excellent Senior Signalling Design Engineer to join its Railways and Systems team in Adelaide. You will lead independent design reviews, verification and sign‑off of signalling solutions for major rail projects across Australia and New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Design, check and independently verify high‑level signalling documentation, including feasibility studies, technical requirements, SOWs, bonding/cable plans, control tables and power calculations.
• Verify infrastructure assets such as trackside signalling, train detection, SCADA and interlocking systems.
• Provide technical advice to clients and project stakeholders, produce tender documentation and lead design teams on medium to large projects.
• Test, commission and maintain signalling and supporting systems while mentoring junior engineers.

Required profile

• 7+ years’ experience in railway signalling with specialist knowledge of conventional signal design.
• Relevant tertiary engineering qualification (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or similar).
• Accreditation from Engineers Australia; IRSE membership, RPEQ/RPEV registration and QR/ARTC competencies highly desired.
• Strong planning, organisation, problem‑solving and client relationship skills.
