Senior Research Fellow (Inflammation and Immunology)

About the role

Monash University's Rheumatology Research Lab at Monash Medical Centre is recruiting a Senior Research Fellow to join its rheumatology research community and contribute to high-quality translational research on innate and adaptive immunity. The group has five externally funded teams and focuses on turning research into clinical practice. The position contributes to externally funded and international pharmaceutical industry-funded projects on glucocorticoids, emerging targeted therapies and human autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake research across established programs and help deliver and coordinate research projects, including publications, conference papers, external funding proposals and project management.
• Provide day-to-day supervision and mentoring of Research Assistants and PhD students.
• Collaborate with clinician colleagues and research teams.
• Contribute to honours and postgraduate supervision and occasional teaching.

Required profile

• Doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Subsequent research experience and a strong record of publications and research outputs.
• Experience securing significant external funding and supervising and developing research staff and students.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• Strong organisational, communication and research management skills.

What we offer

• Fixed-term appointment until 31 December 2027; full-time pay of $150,841-$173,931 per year (Level C) plus 17% employer superannuation, or pro-rata for part-time.
