General Practitioner - King Island, Tasmania

About the role

GP2Oz is recruiting a general practitioner for King Island, Tasmania, a remote island in the Bass Strait with a population of around 1,400 residents plus visitors. The clinic is the only one on the island, located in its largest town, Currie, next to a hospital offering emergency and acute care and outpatient services. The role is hands-on and full-scope, with a minimum of 9 sessions in general practice each week and participation in the hospital roster.

Key responsibilities

• Work a minimum of 9 sessions in general practice each week, seeing 25+ patients per day
• Take part in the hospital roster: 24-hour on-call Monday to Friday and alternating weekends
• Receive dedicated on-site and off-site operational and clinical management support

Required profile

• FACRRM/FRACGP doctor, or an applicant on the AHPRA expedited pathway, with general practice and current emergency experience
• Proficiency in general practice and trauma/accident and emergency
• Current emergency medicine certification (APLS, ELS, ACLS, PALS etc.)
• UK GPs: MRCGP and CCT under any RCGP curriculum from 2007; Irish GPs: MICGP CSCST from 2009; NZ GPs: FRNZCGP from 2012 and completed GPEP

What we offer

• Salary of AUD 330,000+ per year, with universal bulk billing
• Up to AUD 200,000 per year in VMO on-call fees, 1:2 on-call, 7 days VMO then 7 days GP-only
• House and car package valued at AUD 60,000
• Eligibility for procedural grants and Workforce Incentive Program payments (up to AUD 25,000 in year 1)
