Senior Product Designer

About the role

Bradken is seeking a Senior Product Designer to create and improve mechanical products used in mineral processing and material handling. This hands‑on position blends 3D modelling, detailed drafting, engineering analysis, manufacturing support, and on‑site problem solving.

Key responsibilities

• Design new products and modify existing mineral‑processing equipment.
• Produce 3D models, detailed 2D drawings and manufacturing documentation using NX or a comparable CAD system.
• Perform design calculations, engineering analysis and simulations (e.g., ANSYS, FEA) as required.
• Conduct site inspections, measurements and reverse‑engineering activities.
• Translate customer and operational requirements into safe, manufacturable solutions.
• Review drawings for technical accuracy, manufacturability and compliance with standards.
• Coordinate design reviews, document release and support manufacturing.
• Assist with product installation, performance reviews and technical investigations at customer sites.
• Provide technical advice to sales, manufacturing, suppliers and customers.
• Contribute to engineering standards, document control and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree, recognised equivalent or diploma.
• Strong experience designing mechanical products for mining, mineral processing, material handling or heavy‑industrial applications.
• Proven ability to work from the Burswood office and travel to customer sites.
• Effective communication, teamwork and a positive, learning‑oriented attitude.

Required skills

• Advanced 3D modelling and 2D drafting using NX or comparable CAD platform.
• Experience preparing manufacturing drawings and supporting design release.
• Knowledge of fabrication, casting, machining or other heavy manufacturing processes.
• Structural calculations, ANSYS or other FEA tools.
• DEM simulation software.
• Teamcenter PLM.
• 3D scanning technology.
