Senior Design Engineer – Mechanical (Mining & Materials)

About the role

Bradken is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design and improvement of mechanical products used in mineral processing and material handling. This hands‑on position combines 3D modelling, detailed drafting, engineering analysis and on‑site problem solving, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design new products and modify existing mineral processing equipment.
• Create 3D models, detailed 2D drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform design calculations, engineering analysis and simulations as required.
• Conduct site inspections, measurements and reverse‑engineering activities.
• Translate customer and operational requirements into practical, safe, and manufacturable solutions.
• Review drawings for technical accuracy, manufacturability and compliance with drafting standards.
• Coordinate design reviews, document release and manufacturing hand‑over.
• Support product installation, performance reviews and technical investigations at customer sites.
• Provide technical advice to sales, manufacturing, suppliers and customers.
• Contribute to engineering standards, document control and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree, recognised equivalent or diploma.
• Strong experience designing mechanical products for mining, mineral processing, material handling or heavy industrial applications.
• Proven ability to work from the Burswood office and travel to customer sites.
• Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia.

Required skills

• Advanced 3D modelling and 2D drafting using NX or a comparable CAD platform.
• Experience preparing manufacturing drawings and supporting design release.
• Sound knowledge of fabrication, casting, machining or other heavy manufacturing processes.
• Structural calculations and simulation tools such as ANSYS or other FEA software.
• Familiarity with DEM software, Teamcenter PLM and 3D scanning technology.
