About the role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to provide engineering support and carry out non‑destructive testing (NDT) or condition‑monitoring inspections across Western Australia. The role involves working on large‑scale industrial, mining or oil & gas sites, building client relationships and operating autonomously.
Key responsibilities
- Perform ultrasonic, magnetic particle, penetrant testing and thermography inspections on equipment and structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct vibration analysis and condition‑monitoring activities on critical assets to detect early signs of degradation.
- Provide engineering support, prepare detailed inspection reports, and assist in the interpretation of test results for clients.
- Maintain proactive client communication, coordinate site activities, and uphold health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements.
Required profile
- Hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree from an accredited institution.
- Possess AINDT/PCN/ISO 9712 Level 2 certification in MT, PT & UT or VA CAT2 qualification.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Show commitment to HSE practices with meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Required skills
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT) – ability to operate ultrasonic equipment and interpret results.
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) – proficiency in magnetic particle inspection techniques.
- Penetrant Testing (PT) – experience applying liquid penetrant methods for surface defect detection.
- Vibration Analysis – skill in measuring and analysing vibration data to assess equipment health.
- Thermography – competence in infrared imaging to identify thermal anomalies.
