Senior Plant Operator

About the role

Join MacDonnell Regional Council as a Senior Plant Operator, based in Alice Springs with extensive travel to remote communities across Central Australia. You will operate and oversee heavy plant equipment on remediation, civil construction, and waste management projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, graders and trucks on a variety of capital works.
• Conduct pre‑start checks, inspections and minor maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Lead and motivate team members, ensuring safe work practices and compliance.
• Support remediation, road network construction, and public open space development.

Required profile

• Approximately 5 years of plant operating experience.
• Relevant Diploma or Certificate III.
• Current HC Driver's Licence and Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid Australian working rights.
