Senior Physiotherapist – Residential Aged Care

About the role

The Senior Physiotherapist provides advanced physiotherapy care in a specialised residential aged care setting, helping residents maintain independence, mobility and quality of life. Based primarily at Cooinda House, the role works within an interdisciplinary skill-sharing model with Occupational Therapists, assessing and managing mobility, pressure injury risk, cognition, functional ability and equipment needs. It covers residents with complex needs, including secure dementia care, psychogeriatric, bariatric and intellectual disability supports, and contributes to service development, staff supervision, education, research and quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver advanced physiotherapy assessments and interventions for residents with complex health needs, using independent clinical judgement and evidence-based practice.
• Advise on mobility, falls prevention, pressure injury management, functional independence, equipment prescription and physiotherapy service delivery.
• Collaborate with residents, families and multidisciplinary teams to support person-centred care and service planning.
• Educate, mentor and supervise allied health assistants, students and less experienced practitioners.
• Lead and contribute to quality improvement, research and service development initiatives.
