Part-Time Medical Receptionist

About the role

Kimberley Medical Group, a family medical practice in Broome, Western Australia, is looking for a part-time medical receptionist to join its team in the private practice and its co-located Urgent Care Clinic.

Key responsibilities

• Answer telephones in a courteous and professional manner
• Receive and convey messages in writing, verbally and electronically
• Liaise with patients and their families, and with GPs, other health professionals and their staff
• Make appointments
• Fax, scan and file documents; prepare documents for mail-out
• Open, stamp and distribute incoming mail
• Type documents accurately and book and organise staff and doctor meetings
• Handle cash, EFTPOS and other payments
• Help keep the practice clean and carry out other administrative duties as directed

Required profile

• Professionalism and confidentiality
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, show initiative and work well in a team
• Previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative position

Required skills

• Desirable: experience with medical-based software
• Desirable: working knowledge of Windows-based systems such as Word and Excel
• Desirable: understanding of the Medical Benefits Schedule, medical terminology and general practice accreditation standards
