Senior Manager – State Taxes

About the role
The KPMG State Taxes team works on high‑profile transactions across Australia, serving clients in private equity, infrastructure, property, financial services and more. This senior role offers exposure to tax due diligence, structuring, post‑deal implementation and advisory work.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in buy‑side and sell‑side tax due diligence, identifying duty and land tax exposures.
- Advise on duty consequences of mergers, acquisitions, restructures and divestments.
- Identify post‑deal duty obligations and prepare submissions, applications, rulings and objections to revenue authorities.
- Conduct tax research, provide planning advice and help clients manage tax risks.
- Stay current with state tax developments and participate in training.
Required profile
- Completed bachelor’s degree in Law with Accounting, Commerce, Economics or equivalent.
- Recent M&A/transactional experience is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work client‑facing, demonstrate initiative and attention to detail.
