Senior Manager, Personal Banking Third-Party Distribution Risk

Job description
About the role
Macquarie is looking for a Senior Manager in its Personal Banking team in Sydney to lead a complete overhaul of how third-party financial advisers, AFSLs and other distributors are governed. The role builds and leads a team that will redesign the operating model, develop the team and set clear expectations to raise industry standards.
Key responsibilities
- Build and lead a team responsible for transforming Macquarie's approach to third-party distributor governance and oversight.
- Establish clear standards and expectations for financial advisers and third-party distributors, aligned with evolving regulatory and community expectations.
- Lead the identification and management of distributor conduct issues, including investigations into complaints, cyber incidents, fraud and regulatory matters, and oversee corrective action and consequence management.
- Strengthen oversight across the distribution network through data-driven monitoring and risk-based assurance.
- Partner with AFSL holders, distributors and senior stakeholders across Sales, Distribution, Product, Risk and Legal to improve the third-party risk framework.
- Provide meaningful reporting to key governance forums.
Required profile
- 5-8+ years' experience in risk, compliance, assurance, financial crime or operational risk within banking or financial services.
- Ideally a track record of transforming or materially redesigning a risk or governance function.
- Proven people leadership experience, setting clear strategy and expectations and leading a high-performance culture.
- Advantageous but not essential: prior exposure to risk management in financial advice or third-party distribution.
Required skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of key financial services regulation and legislation.
- Strong communication skills, able to tailor complex messages to diverse audiences and build stakeholder relationships.
- Problem-solving ability, with a track record of practical, innovative solutions that improve risk management.
- High accountability and discipline to prioritise effectively.
What we offer
- Wellbeing leave day per year, up to 5 additional service bonus leave days, and up to 20 weeks' paid parental leave.
- Paid volunteer leave and donation matching, and up to 12 months' gender affirmation leave.
- Employee Assistance Program and wellbeing benefits, including skin and health checks and flu vaccinations.
- Salary packaging options and learning and development opportunities, including professional membership reimbursement.
- Hybrid and flexible working arrangements, dependent on role, and reimbursement for work-from-home equipment.
