Senior Management Accountant

About the role

As a Senior Management Accountant you will partner with the NSW Water operations team to strengthen financial performance, support informed decision‑making and help deliver essential water services across a complex, multi‑site business.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full financial cycle – journals, month‑end reporting, invoicing, budgets and forecasts.
• Oversee month‑end activities, working capital, client billing, balance‑sheet reconciliations, stocktakes and capex reporting.
• Lead P&L reporting, financial analysis and KPI accuracy for NSW Water contracts.
• Monitor financial performance, share insights and identify risks and opportunities.
• Lead annual budget and forecast processes, coordinating inputs from various teams.
• Support audits, governance and stakeholder relationships.
• Lead financial projects, process improvements and promote a safe workplace.
• Manage and develop a Reporting Assistant Accountant.

Required profile

• Commercial acumen with ability to link financial results to operational performance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience in financial analysis/reporting within a commercial business‑partnering capacity.
• Current driver’s licence and membership of a relevant accounting body (CA, CPA).

Required skills

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA (preferred).
• Experience with IBM TM1 (preferred).
