Senior Legal Counsel – Renewable Energy

About the role

Join a tight, senior in‑house legal team supporting one of Australia’s most significant renewable portfolios. You will lead construction and operations contracting for utility‑scale wind, solar, hydro and battery storage projects, delivering high‑value matters with genuine autonomy.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and manage EPC and O&M contracts for utility‑scale renewable and storage projects.
• Act as the primary legal adviser for project teams from contract award through commercial operation.
• Manage risk allocation, variations and disputes with commercial pragmatism.
• Support negotiation of PPAs and offtake agreements with corporate and government counterparties.
• Partner with commercial teams to structure bankable deals and assist portfolio and corporate financing workstreams.
• Assist with property and land matters as projects progress.

Required profile

• 8–12 years post‑qualification experience, primarily on EPC and O&M contracts.
• Training in a top or mid‑tier firm, in‑house, or a combination of both.
• Experience with PPAs, offtake or similar long‑term revenue contracts.
• Ability to run high‑value matters independently and advise senior stakeholders directly.
• Admitted to practice law in Australia.

Required skills

• Expertise in drafting and negotiating EPC contracts.
• Strong knowledge of O&M contract frameworks.
• Familiarity with power purchase agreements and offtake structures.
