Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

As a Senior Legal Counsel at AP+, you will provide clear, commercially focused legal advice on complex and significant matters, helping leaders make informed decisions and manage legal risk while supporting the company’s strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide authoritative legal advice on complex, material and strategically significant matters, explaining options and commercial implications.
• Identify and manage significant legal risks, offering practical mitigation options to senior stakeholders.
• Lead complex negotiations and cross‑functional legal matters, coordinating internal teams and external advisers.
• Act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, delivering clear guidance and constructive challenge.
• Own matters from initial assessment through resolution, escalating when broader organisational decisions are required.
• Coach and support less experienced lawyers and improve Legal team processes through playbooks, precedents and data‑driven tools.

Required profile

• Law degree or equivalent legal qualification with a current New South Wales practising certificate.
• At least six years post‑qualification experience at a senior legal counsel level.
• Demonstrated ability to advise across multiple areas of law and independently manage complex matters.
• Strong commercial and risk perspective, balancing legal risk with business needs.
• Experience leading significant negotiations or cross‑functional matters.
• Proven track record of building trusted relationships with senior leaders and influencing decisions.
