Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

KPMG Australia’s Office of General Counsel is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its in‑house team in Sydney. The role focuses on employment law matters, including advice, investigations and dispute resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and advise on a range of employment matters from investigations to disputes.
• Draft responsive documents for proceedings before the Fair Work Commission and the Australian Human Rights Commission.
• Facilitate factual investigations in workers‑compensation matters.
• Collaborate with external counsel and internal teams on complex disputes and regulatory issues.
• Provide timely legal advice on complex risks and respond to orders, notices, summonses and subpoenas.

Required profile

• Current Practising Certificate.
• 5+ years post‑qualification experience in private practice at a major law firm.
• Familiarity with Fair Work Commission, Australian Human Rights Commission and court proceedings.
• Analytical, commercial and solution‑focused with ability to work under pressure.
• Strong team‑orientated attitude and commitment to professional development.
