Senior Lawyer – Platforms, Investments & Operations

About the role

Westpac is seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join its Business & Wealth Division, supporting BT. The role focuses on complex regulatory matters across platforms, superannuation, funds management and margin lending, and is based in Sydney or Melbourne with flexible hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on legal risks related to platforms, superannuation, funds management and margin lending, including Part 7.9 and Chapters 5C and 7 of the Corporations Act 2001.
• Provide guidance to business units and superannuation trustee/RE boards on a wide range of regulatory issues.
• Develop house views, function‑wide improvements and knowledge‑sharing initiatives for the Legal function.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver legal advice and maintain strong relationships.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and creative thinking.

Required profile

• 10+ years post‑qualification experience in financial services law, preferably in a large corporate or private practice.
• Strong commercial acumen and solutions‑focused mindset.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and analytical skills.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of superannuation legislation, relevant prudential standards and the Corporations Act 2001.
• Deep understanding of regulatory duties and obligations for platforms, managed funds and margin lending.
