Senior Legal Counsel – Construction & Infrastructure

About the role

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel based in Sydney to join a high‑performing legal team supporting major infrastructure projects and broader commercial strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate major project, construction and commercial agreements including EPC, ITC, Alliance, D&C, PPP and consultancy contracts.
• Advise on procurement strategies, tender processes and bid documentation.
• Provide commercially focused legal advice across major projects, infrastructure and development matters.
• Support contract management, risk allocation and project structuring.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver successful project and commercial outcomes.
• Manage external legal advisers and support key project negotiations.

Required profile

• Approximately 10+ years’ post‑qualification experience as a construction, projects or infrastructure lawyer, either in a reputable law firm or a leading in‑house environment.
• Strong experience advising on front‑end construction, infrastructure and major projects matters, with particular depth in rail infrastructure being favourable.
• Deep understanding of construction contracting models, procurement frameworks and risk allocation principles.
• Experience supporting large‑scale infrastructure, energy and transport projects.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Proactive, pragmatic and solutions‑focused mindset, able to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, complex project environment.
