Senior Legal Counsel – APAC Payments

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join a high‑performing APAC legal team within a globally recognised financial services organisation. Reporting to a regional legal leader, you will act as a trusted partner, providing hands‑on commercial, regulatory and corporate advice across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead legal matters on defined projects, initiatives or jurisdictions.
• Provide commercial and regulatory advice to support day‑to‑day operations, new product launches and strategic initiatives.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements related to payments, digital and consumer products.
• Collaborate closely with business leaders, compliance, and other internal stakeholders.
• Manage interactions with third parties, including regulators, when required.
• Contribute to a collaborative, high‑performing regional legal team.

Required profile

• 8+ years post‑qualification experience in a leading law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Admission to practice in Australia or an equivalent jurisdiction.
• Strong background in financial services; payments experience is advantageous.
• Proven ability to advise on commercial, regulatory and corporate matters in a multinational context.
• Commercially minded, solutions‑focused and comfortable working independently.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders.
