Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

The Internal Audit team provides independent assurance, advice and insights to support effective governance, risk management and internal controls across AEMO. As a Senior Internal Auditor you will conduct audits, develop testing strategies and provide insights to improve business processes in a complex energy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and delivery of AEMO's risk‑based internal audit and assurance program.
• Plan, execute and document internal audit engagements, assessing governance, risk management and internal controls.
• Identify risks, control gaps and improvement opportunities, providing practical recommendations.
• Leverage data analytics to enhance audit effectiveness and support decision‑making.
• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, deliver clear findings and monitor remediation actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Accounting, Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, CIA, CISA, CISSP are highly regarded.
• Experience delivering internal audit, risk assurance or governance programs in a complex or regulated environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence outcomes.
