Senior Hydraulic Engineer

About the role

Join AECOM’s Building Engineering team in Sydney as a Senior Hydraulic Engineer, leading complex hydraulic designs for major building projects and ensuring compliance with the NCC, Australian Standards and local authority requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of technically complex hydraulic designs across major building projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers, technicians and designers to solve technical challenges and ensure integrated, high‑quality outcomes.
• Partner with project managers to align priorities, resources and program delivery.
• Engage directly with external clients to define scopes, manage expectations and deliver practical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• 5+ years’ professional experience in building services or hydraulic engineering consultancy.
• Chartered status or working toward professional registration (e.g., CPEng, RPEQ, Registered Design Practitioner).
• Strong knowledge of the NCC, relevant Australian Standards, fire and rescue requirements and local authority approval processes.
• Australian citizenship required; defence clearance highly regarded.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using Bluebeam.
• Competence in hydraulic design software.
