Senior Fire Safety Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Fire Safety Engineer to join its Buildings & Places team in Brisbane. The role involves leading large‑scale fire engineering projects from concept through to building occupation, providing technical expertise and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead fire engineering design and performance‑based strategies for a variety of building and infrastructure projects.
• Manage project and client relationships across multiple markets, including negotiations with approval authorities.
• Prepare Performance Based Design Briefs, Fire Engineering Reports and Fire Engineering Strategies.

Required profile

• 5+ years’ experience as a Fire Safety Engineer.
• Relevant engineering qualification, preferably in Fire Engineering.
• Thorough understanding of the Building Code of Australia and Australian Fire Engineering Guidelines.
• Proven record of leading fire engineering projects and securing approvals.

Required skills

• Fire engineering design and analysis.
• Performance‑based fire design methodology.
• Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia.
• Familiarity with Australian Fire Engineering Guidelines.
