Senior Engineer / Project Manager – Rail & Metro

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Senior Engineer / Project Manager to lead complex rail and metro projects across Australia. The role can be based in North Sydney or Parramatta and offers a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Provide project management and governance for high‑priority rail infrastructure projects, ensuring commercial, design, timeliness and quality outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through successful delivery and targeted business development activities.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams, fostering cohesion, optimal performance and professional development.
• Support bid preparation, tender submissions and business development initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years experience delivering rail infrastructure projects within an engineering design consultancy.
• Proven experience managing complex, nationally significant projects and stakeholder relationships.
