Associate Engineer - Electrical, Rail & Metro

About the role

SMEC is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join its rail team in Sydney, working on major rail projects across Australia with a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver lighting, low voltage, high voltage, earthing and bonding engineering services for rail projects.
• Produce engineering drawings, reports, specifications and tender packages from preliminary design through construction.
• Conduct feasibility studies, load calculations and site inspections.
• Review electrical designs to ensure compliance with Australian codes, client requirements and SMEC standards.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of industry experience in electrical design for rail or transport infrastructure.
• Professional Engineer status (CPEng) preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, PowerCAD, AGI 32, DIALux and CDEGS software.
• Strong understanding of Australian electrical codes and standards, safety assurance and system engineering processes.
