Senior Electrical Product Engineer - Maritime Engineering
Anduril Industries · Sydney
Job description
About the role
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is hiring a Senior Electrical Product Engineer for its maritime engineering program. The role sits in Platform Engineering and is based primarily at the production site, where the engineer acts as the main electrical design point of contact on the production floor. They bridge design intent and production execution, disposing of nonconformances and Material Review Board (MRB) actions for electrical systems and sub-assemblies, and close the loop between production and design so issues are root-caused and fixed at the source.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the primary electrical design engineering contact on the production floor for assigned programs and product lines
- Represent design authority at MRB, working with Quality and Manufacturing to minimise production hold time without compromising safety and integrity
- Resolve production blockers, design ambiguities and schematic/drawing interpretation issues in real time, and provide rapid-response engineering support and root cause analysis to Production, Quality and Test teams
- Perform detailed electrical calculations, simulations and analysis (power budgets, thermal derating, circuit analysis, connector/harness assessments, EMC/EMI) to support MRB dispositions and deviation requests
- Contribute to the design, development and integration of electrical systems, including design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and system-level trade studies
- Support the translation of design intent into production-executable work across product versions, configurations and manufacturing sites, and help stand up production at new sites
- Raise and implement engineering changes through the configuration management and change process, and feed failure modes and DFM/DFA opportunities back into design
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on work instructions, tooling validation and First Article Inspection, and resolve EBOM discrepancies
- Identify patterns in nonconformances and lead engineering root cause analysis and corrective action, and build playbooks for ramping new product variants
- Work with Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering and Program Management, and take part in production readiness reviews, DFMEA and DFM/A/T reviews
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience in a senior role within defence, tech or another fast-paced environment, driving electrical engineering projects from concept to market launch
- Expertise in electrical engineering principles, techniques and technologies
- Engineering judgement, design authority integrity, cross-functional influence, autonomy and initiative, and clear technical communication
