Senior Electrical Estimator – Substations & BESS

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead cost estimation for high‑voltage substations (AIS/GIS) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across national transmission projects. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to shape bids that support Australia’s energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Develop accurate cost estimates for HV substations and BESS from first principles, including materials, plant, labour and subcontractor pricing.
• Coordinate procurement and tendering strategies, manage subcontractor pricing and lead bid meetings.
• Conduct risk assessments and manage provisional sums and contingency allowances.
• Prepare estimate basis documents, work‑breakdown structures (WBS) and bridging documents for cost tracking.
• Present estimates and cost reports to senior management and clients.
• Utilise CCS/Candy, Expert Estimation, Excel and Power BI for estimating and reporting.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or a Trade Electrical qualification with on‑site experience.
• 6+ years of experience in engineering, project delivery or related technical roles within infrastructure, utilities or construction.
• Minimum 4 years of estimating experience on major infrastructure projects, preferably transmission lines, HV systems or substations.
• Proficiency with CCS/Candy, Expert Estimation, Excel and Power BI.
• Strong first‑principles estimating skills and ability to interpret technical drawings.
