Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

A multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in North Sydney, based in a modern office with harbour views, is looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer. You will lead the design of power, lighting and UPS systems on complex built-environment projects, working within a fully integrated team of architects, structural, mechanical, fire, hydraulics and digital engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design from concept through construction documentation so projects meet client outcomes, Australian Standards and NCC requirements.
• Manage your own time so projects meet agreed cost, quality and programme targets.
• Carry out power distribution, lighting, earthing, ELV and emergency systems calculations.
• Deliver coordinated BIM and calculation packages that reduce clashes and rework across multidisciplinary teams.
• Guide junior engineers and designers so technical quality, safety and sustainability improve on every assignment.
• Resolve design and site issues with clients, contractors and authorities so construction stays on track and variations are controlled.
• Apply digital tools and low-carbon thinking so electrical systems are efficient, future-ready and auditable.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering with at least 4 years of consulting or design experience in the built environment.
• Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
• Ability to lead electrical design packages and projects from feasibility, concept and detail design stages.
• Able to review others' work and coordinate in a BIM environment.
• Confident communicator with internal and external stakeholders, able to balance technical excellence with commercial reality.
• Ideally working towards Chartered status or a clear path to CPEng and NER.
