Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Hazardous Area & Functional Safety

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with specialist expertise in Hazardous Areas and Functional Safety to join our Brisbane team. You will lead technical design on complex industrial projects and mentor developing engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in delivery of key projects for local and national clients, providing specialist expertise in Hazardous Areas and Functional Safety.
• Guide and supervise developing engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects meet time, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations.
• Advise clients on complex engineering projects from concept through to delivery.
• Act as technical design lead for packages and projects.
• Solve technical challenges and deliver high‑quality advice that informs decisions.
• Contribute to resilient and innovative engineering solutions.
• Apply advanced analytics and optimisation to enhance performance.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Certification in Hazardous Areas and Functional Safety.
• Minimum 15 years experience in electrical, instrumentation or control systems.
• Proven ability to train, guide and support developing engineers.
• Track record of delivering practical, impactful outcomes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to see the big picture and challenge assumptions.
